Dear Romy, when you tune in to WCRB what is the reading of the FM Signal/Multipath dial on your Sansui TU-X1?...
|
Adrian,
when you comment that “live broadcast is simply dramatically more alive, more dynamic, more involving. One cannot help but be drawn into the music emotionally and begin to think immediately about the compositional structure” then did you mad...

Yep, the TU-X1 is just wonderful. Find someone to align it, have a good antenna, good attenuator (it is hard to use it without one) and headphones to set the attenuator right – it is all that might ever need from FM. BTW, are you planning to record a...
Well, the T85++ and TU-1X Multiplex decoders do produces a different stereo.
It was quite phenomenal FM program this weekend in Boston. I was running it mostly off the Sansui tuner and again and again I was stunned...

hi romy,i have never heard the rel. but, if you want to hear a tubed tuna at its best, pick up a sherwood s3000ll or later, get it serviced, and run it thru one of your mpx decoders. or get one w/a built-in sherwood mpx. this is tube sound as good...

It is come to me that something is not right with sound that I get from the New Experimental Sansui TU-X1. The “new” TU-X1 better tunes to stations and have better noise butt it has slightly less interesting tone then my old Sansui. You know that...

Sure the music is too different to judge sound, the fragments were more my personal impression of the differenses between the tuners. The new TU-X1 is slightly sharper in musical terms. It does not make it a bad tuner, in fact I feel it is better in ...
I live where FM program quality justifies a good tuner. Despite getting what I consider to be really excellent sound from this modded TU9900, I will one day compare it to a TU-X1. I will post my findings here.
Antonio, I disagree. I found it very good result and it is very much irrelevant how piano ir oe what kind timbres the sax has. Come on, this is some kind crappy jazz-band and in a local bar, how much you expect?
The poin...

This became really insulting: the FM broadcasts from a consumer quality radio delivery in my listening room the level of audio quality at absolutely unmatched level.
I’m not kidding. The Sansui TU-X1 that I use is a consumer machine made without any...

Since FM long has been my primary at the most enjoyable audio source I decided to push the envelope a little further. The Rohde & Schwarz tuner bind via wide-bandwidth output with modified Yamaha T-85 MPX decoder sounds identical to Sansui TU-X1....
|
I brought home another "top-rating" tuner with better front-end and trying to see if the TU-X1 hold the ground. The competition was groundless – Sansui destroyed the contestant, I will talk about it more in future.
Minwhile it was a broadcast today ...

Which are huge, they not even sound as the same orchestra into the same venue. I don't know if my computer rig, which I must use to play the 24/88 files, using a pair of SL600 into a very small room, would qualify themselves as a whole injection chan...

I was playing today a little with my “reminded in service” TU-X1 and what do you know? I found a way to make it to sound even better than before. I mean really really really better. I mean better up to the point the It I hardly believable. Wher...
Dear Romy, it is possible. I would need to obtain some cables to make the connection between my Sansui TU-X1 and Lavry Blue ADC. Also, I do not have access yet to broadband so till then recordings could be to CD...

Hi Peter, thank you very much for the information. Have you had the chance to try the propietary Sansui antenna with your TU-X1? Do you know if it's an indoor or outdoor antenna?Rgrds....

I could live happily with a 2 or 3 way system which were above 95dB/w to be used with some SET amp in the 20-30wpc range, covering just from about 60Hz to 16KHz, provided it fits a domestic, shared-purpose room. I'd only ask for right tone, effortles...

then it will be worth exploring. I have always missed in my playback the way the air in a concert hall gets filled of sound, as if notes and specially their armonics were flowing upwards. The TU-X1 does that trick quite nicely, but it's not the same ...

I don't know Jessie, but I also have listened to the files several times and I stand on my comments. The file DAC 1 is the one that I find more "loose" with more room defining bass, and DAC2 the one with some sort of better harmonic definition. The o...

Yes, you've got an issue of some kind. Start with getting an 'alignment' for it....not one that just aligns the tuner dial with the stationnumber, but a front end algnment....there should be someone in SF who can do this for $100.My TU-X1 was t...

What will you do with the second TU-X1? Are you planning to do some modifications on it? I was about bidding for it while it was very affordable, but once it started to get more and more expensive and I noticed it was you.... I decided my TU-919...

Well, it just so happens that I am now a proud new owner of a Sansui TU-X1! (but had to pay almost 1000 USD for it...sigh; I seem to find legendary precision machinery like this and Nakamichi Dragon irresistable - rest of my hifi stuff is c...

Adrian,
I am not sure if I understand you correctly but if I do then I did NOT experience this effect with both of my TU-X1. Does is exist only with one station? If yes, then the station might possess signal in some odd way…
You might ...
I would probably start testing using TU-X1 FM OUTPUT (FIXED) as a first option.
If you have the FIXED output then it is all “tweaking” that you need to do. Bothe of my TU-X1 were export version and both outputs w...

Dear Antonio, there is a picture of the Sansui FA-7 antenna in the TU-X1 brochure and it definitely looks like it is a small external antenna designed for use in high density accommodation. I did not try this antenna. In m...

Dear Romy,K-Stereo receives a digital data feed, performs a bit-rate conversion in preparation for internal processing, then as a last step optionally performs dither for the reduced word length digital output. The machine contains an internal ...

Imaging is what you experience from a good mono recording, which is closer to reality in a live performance, but kind of narrower. Soundstage is what you get from most hifi systems, a quite false illusion of music happening into its own fake, de...

It is know that in addition to basic tastes (I believe bitter, salty, sour, sweet) of the Western culture those “different” Japanese people recognize another taste they call it “Umami”. Umami, if I am not mistaken, is a sense deliciousnes...
